Mirror Cleaning Guide¶
Your Due Flow is equipped with a set of mirrors responsible for reflecting and directing the laser beam. For the machine to operate perfectly, it is fundamental that these mirrors are kept spotless!
Attention: Safety First
Before starting any cleaning procedure, ensure the machine is disconnected from the power supply.
Cleaning Frequency¶
This procedure should be performed weekly. However, depending on the materials you use, more frequent care may be required.
- MDF Users: This material releases smoke that quickly creates a resin layer on the mirrors. If you work extensively with MDF, we recommend daily cleaning.
- Performance Tip: If your machine seems to be losing power, it might just be dirty mirrors!
Required Materials¶
To clean the mirrors effectively, you will need: * Cotton swabs (Q-tips) * Neutral detergent (mild soap) * Warm water
Locating the Mirrors¶
- Central Carriage Mirror: Located inside the moving black housing on the X-axis (laser head).
- Side Mirrors: These two mirrors are located on the left side of the machine, fixed to the motion gantry.
Cleaning Procedure¶
Follow these steps carefully to avoid scratching the reflective surface:
- Apply Detergent: Place a small drop of neutral detergent on a cotton swab and gently apply it to the mirror using circular motions.
- Rinse with Warm Water: Dip a fresh swab in warm water and gently clean the mirror in a circular motion to remove the soap. (You can also pre-mix the water and detergent).
- Repeat if Necessary: Continue the process until all residue is gone.
- Dry Thoroughly: Use a dry cotton swab to remove any excess moisture. Ensure there are no streaks or water spots left behind!
Repeat this process for all mirrors in the machine.
Pro Tip
Since you already have the materials out, why not check your Lens as well? It is best practice to clean all optical components at the same time to ensure a perfect cut.
