Cleaning the Laser Head Cooler and Exhaust Fan

In this guide, we will walk you through the maintenance of the two cooling systems that ensure your Due Flow operates safely: the laser head cooler and the machine's main exhaust fan.

Cleaning Frequency

We recommend cleaning these fans weekly to prevent debris buildup.

Pro Tip

Always keep an eye on whether the fans look dusty or sticky with resin. If you frequently cut materials like MDF, PETG, or Acetate, you must clean them more often to ensure proper air extraction and cooling.

Laser Head Cooler

This fan is located on the central carriage, right next to the laser head. It is responsible for cooling the cutting area.

Warning Signs: If this cooler is dirty or misdirected, you may notice small flames during the cutting process. This is dangerous and will leave charred edges on your workpieces.

How to clean the Laser Head Cooler:

  1. Access the Fan: Loosen the knob on the central carriage. You can either rotate the cooler towards you or disconnect the cylinder base (remembering to unplug the red wire) to reach the blades.
  2. Clean the Blades: Use a cotton swab dampened with warm water and neutral detergent. Carefully clean both the front and back of each blade.
  3. Pro Technique: Hold the blades with one hand to keep them from spinning while you clean with the other.
  4. Dry and Reassemble: If necessary, use a dry swab to remove excess moisture. Reattach the base and don't forget to reconnect the red wire.

Exhaust Fan

Located at the back-right of the machine, this fan extracts the gases produced during the laser process. If the exhaust fan fails, smoke will linger inside the machine, dirtying your lenses and mirrors much faster and posing a health risk.

How to clean the Exhaust Fan:

  1. Clear the Area: Move the tube axis forward to create enough space to reach the back of the work area.
  2. Wipe the Blades: Use a soft brush or a damp cloth to thoroughly clean the exhaust fan blades. Ensure all accumulated dust is removed.

Final Reminder

Cleaning the fan blades might seem like a small task, but it is fundamental for your safety and the machine's precision. Don't let the dirt build up!
